Beaumont Outing “Enjoyable”

rock gymOur last campout was filled with enjoyment and entertainment.
We stayed at a camp named Beaumont.  When we got there, we unpacked the trailer filled with all of our gear. After that, we had a snack and a little campfire before going to sleep for the big day ahead.

Backpacking: Hickory Creek Wilderness

On October 17-19, 2008, some members of Troop 59 went on a backpacking trip to Hickory Creek.

We hiked a total of twelve miles on our trip. Each scout had to carry their own pack with all their necessary gear for the weekend, including food and water.

We had to hang up our smellables so that no animals could get into them (fortunately, we didn’t have any four- legged visitors).

Merz Thanksgiving Campout

This month we are going to camp Merz from November 7-9 for our famous Thanksgiving campout.
On Friday, we will relax with pizza and a movie after everything is set up.
On Saturday, we will work (slave) over the oven to make turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, pies galore and much more. We will cook one of our turkeys underground because it tastes great. Crew Survives Philmont

IMG_0566.JPGAfter months of preparation, Crew 806-C finally headed to Philmont Scout Ranch last month.
Their two-week ordeal started with two days of touring in Albuquerque, N.M. The crew had a blast!
They arrived at Philmont on the third day and squared away their final tasks before they hit the trail. Their ranger stayed with them for the first two of 10 days in the wilderness. After that, 806-C was on its own.
