Backpacking: Hickory Creek Wilderness

On October 17-19, 2008, some members of Troop 59 went on a backpacking trip to Hickory Creek.

We hiked a total of twelve miles on our trip. Each scout had to carry their own pack with all their necessary gear for the weekend, including food and water.

We had to hang up our smellables so that no animals could get into them (fortunately, we didn’t have any four- legged visitors).

Crew Survives Philmont

IMG_0566.JPGAfter months of preparation, Crew 806-C finally headed to Philmont Scout Ranch last month.
Their two-week ordeal started with two days of touring in Albuquerque, N.M. The crew had a blast!
They arrived at Philmont on the third day and squared away their final tasks before they hit the trail. Their ranger stayed with them for the first two of 10 days in the wilderness. After that, 806-C was on its own.
